About Us

Spring Hill Elementary School is located in East Knoxville, within Board of Education District 2 and KCS Region 5. As a Title 1 community school, it has a strong presence in the Knoxville area, serving students from PreK through 5th grade. One of the seventeen community schools supported by United Way, Spring Hill offers a variety of enriching after-school programs, including the Gardening Club, Honor’s Choir, Amachi, Joy of Music, Girl Talk, and the Gaming Club.

At Spring Hill, our top priorities are to ensure that every classroom has excellent educators who build strong foundational skills through daily instruction and provide guidance to support the holistic needs of our students. By doing this, we aim for our students to achieve academic success across all content areas, empowering them to be well-prepared for their career and college pathways.

School Administrators

Principal Watkins

Tiffany Watkins

Ms. Watkins has been an educator in Knox County Schools for over thirty years. She began her career in education in 1995 as a first-grade teacher at Ball Camp Elementary, where she taught until 2000. From 2000 to 2013, she continued teaching first grade at Hardin Valley Elementary School. After her classroom experience, Ms. Watkins became part of the third cohort of the Knox County Schools/University of Tennessee, Knoxville Leadership Academy. During the Leadership Academy, she served as an administrator-in-training at A.L. Lotts, ultimately earning her administrative license upon completing the program.

In 2013, she officially began her career in administration as the Assistant Principal at Adrian Burnett Elementary, a position she held until 2014. After that, she became the Principal at Fair Garden Family Community Center, one of three standalone PreK programs in Knox County Schools at that time, serving from 2014 to 2019. She then took on the role of Principal at Gap Creek, where she worked from 2019 to 2022. In the fall of 2022, Ms. Watkins joined the Spring Hill staff, where she currently serves as the Principal.

Ms. Watkins is dedicated to creating a safe environment where students feel secure in their learning and can strive to reach their fullest academic and personal potential. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Assistant Principal Waters

Shane Waters

Shane Waters has been an educator for twenty-seven years with twenty-one of those being as a special educator in the Maryville City Schools District. Most recently, she has served as an Assistant Principal at KCS Virtual Elementary School, Chilhowee Intermediate School and Spring Hill Elementary in Knox County. She has served Spring Hill community for the past three years.

Ms. Waters holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Tennessee Technological University in Comprehensive Special Education. She obtained a Master of Arts degree from Nova Southeastern University in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration on Technology. Finally, Ms. Waters holds an Educational Specialist degree from Lincoln Memorial University in Educational Administration and Supervision.

Assistant Principal Spikes

Tim Spikes has served as the Assistant Principal of Spring Hill Elementary for the past 4 years. Before coming to Spring Hill Elementary, Mr. Spikes was an Administrator Assistant at Sarah Moore Greene Elementary. He taught at Vine Middle School for 16 years and West View Elementary School for 2 years. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Carson Newman College and a Masters in Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University.

Outside of school, Tim Spikes is a devoted husband, father, and son. He enjoys spending time with his wife, two children, mom, and pets.
